Synopsis
Palestine: a body is trapped at a checkpoint; an essential mechanism of the Israeli occupation. The body is pierced by structural and physical violence, which is aggressive and arbitrary and prevents and attacks its free movement and existence.

Samira Badran

Samira Badran was born in 1954 in Libya to a family of Palestinian artists. She studied at The Academy of Fine Arts in Cairo and at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Florence. Her father Jamal Badran played a decisive role in her artistic education. She has exhibited her work widely: at the WhiteBox Art Center in NY, at Al-Hoash-the Palestinian Art Court in Jerusalem, at the Jordanian National Gallery, at the Modern Art Gallery in Baghdad, Biennial La Habana, La Tramontana Chaillé-les-Marais, Washington Museum of Women in Arts, Musée du Luxembourg in Paris and Foreign Ministry of Berlin.
